I am a graduate from Antioch New England Graduate School, where I earned my MA. I have always been interested in the integration of the body and the mind and its effects on physical and mental well-being. I am certified as both a life coach and an eating disorder specialist . I also have completed Level 1 and 2 of Reiki training and am working towards becoming a Reiki Master.
Since moving to Maine, I have had a private psychotherapy practice, both in Portland and Brunswick. I was a co-owner of Back Cove Counseling Center, and then moved my Portland practice to New England Women’s Center, a multi-disciplinary center. There, I was the behavioral health therapist, working with women and men around physical and developmental stages of change. In 2008, I had the opportunity in Brunswick, to be one of four practitioners who designed, and implemented a holistic, multi-dimensional, out-patient weight loss program at Mid-Coast Hospital.
In addition to my private psychotherapy practice, I am presently the behavioral health therapist for the Healthy Weight For A Lifestyle program. It is a mindfulness based program which helps participants look at their emotional and nutritional relationship with food and how their lifestyle, stress and thinking all affect their ability to sustain health and wellness.
I believe that successful therapy starts with a trusting relationship between the therapist and the client. I think it is very important for the process of therapy to be empowering, and that starts with the initial meeting Our first session will be an opportunity for you to talk at length about why you have called and what issues you want help with. It will also be a time for me to give you feedback, so that you can get a sense of me; how I listen and how I might work with you as a client.
My style of therapy is eclectic; however, the goal is to find a solution and a resolution to your issues. I am a holistic therapist, believing that the body and the mind are intimately linked. I work with male and female clients, adolescents from age 12 and up, young adults, adults, couples, geriatrics and families. I am highly experienced in the areas of depression and anxiety disorders, ADHD, women’s issues and life stage transitions.
So, I ask you…..“What will you do with your one, wild and precious life?”
